Overview
This article provides information about an issue customers may experience with the PDQ terminal that uses a CallStream fixed line, where the machine cannot take payments.
Information
PQD terminals, or card machines, require a standard business landline to function. If you are not able to process payments, there might be an issue with your equipment or a fault in the line your payment terminal is connected to. To rule out the former, make sure your PQD machine is connected correctly, that the equipment is not faulty, and that your internal wiring has no issues as described in Testing Your PSTN Line.
Note: If you only own one payment terminal machine and cannot determine whether the equipment is faulty, test the line with a phone handset.
If you have confirmed that there is an issue with your equipment, contact your phone system supplier requesting maintenance for your machine or a replacement. If the issue is caused by a fault in the line, contact CallStream Support making sure to provide the following information:
- Line with the issue.
- Indicate your line is connected to a PQD terminal.
- Describe the symptoms in as much detail as possible.
- Include other relevant details, such as the tests you have conducted and if the issue happens at a specific time of day or under certain conditions.

Refer to Reporting a WLR Line Fault for instructions about conducting a Line Test and reporting the issue to Openreach in case the line test indicates there is a fault.
