Overview
This article provides information on the SCA regulatory requirement and whether CallStream transactions require SCA.
Information
Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is a European regulatory requirement under the Revised Payment Service Directive (PSD2). Its purpose is to make online and contactless offline payments more secure by including an additional form of authentication to the checkout flow.
MOTO (Mail Order Telephone Order) transactions are not within the scope of SCA. This means that, in order to process a payment, the cardholder does not need to be verified with SCA. All transactions done via Callstream, as they are done over the phone, are classified as MOTO and do not require SCA.
